Justin Head graduated with an Honours degree in Motion Picture Medium and has more than 15 years of experience in film, TV and video.

Prior to Justin’s debut feature film, Night Drive, he worked in many different roles, from researcher and scriptwriter to editor and producer. He’s worked on projects ranging from corporate videos, commercials and sports promos to documentaries and feature films.

Here are just a few examples of Justin’s work:

Justin spent several years honing his storytelling skills as a scriptwriter for a daytime drama series.

In the current affairs realm, Justin researched, wrote, and produced several inserts for Carte Blanche Medical and Consumer. One notable project took him right into the heart of a Rift Valley Fever outbreak – a zoonotic disease that claimed many lives as it rapidly swept across South Africa.

His kinetic visual style drew the attention of the action sports community. He produced several episodes for the action-packed reality series MMA Showdown Africa. The Canopy Piloting World Cup - a dangerous low-altitude skydiving competition - was another sports highlight. In this high stakes event, also known as ‘swooping’, skydivers must fly across a lake at breakneck speeds, mere inches above the water's surface.

Just prior to the lockdown he was commissioned by the Friedrich- Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit to produce a slate of short films to coincide with the organisation's campaigns to raise awareness about social issues facing sub- Saharan Africa.
